John Johnson (john@aashe.org) is AASHE’s Business Manager and a member of our content development team. He is a graduate student at the University of Kentucky studying sociology. John has more than 10 years experience in the civic sector, having served in financial and administrative positions for healthcare and arts organizations. He is a Teaching Assistant at the University of Kentucky and has taught at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College.  His current teaching and research interests include the sociology of organizations, sustainability, gender inequality and the relationship between societies and the environment. He is currently working on a thesis investigating the issues of institutional commitment, culture change and the idea of “place” as a vital aspect of sustainability efforts on college and university campuses.  John earned a B.A. at Malone College and a M.Div. degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. He lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Shelly, a writer and teacher.
