As you may know, AASHE has involved the higher education community in a collaborative process to develop an assessment and self-evaluation tool for campuses to rate their sustainability efforts, with the goal of providing a usable, comprehensive measurement of success for sustainability in higher education. The project is called STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System).

To learn more about STARS, visit www.aashe.org/stars. A draft version – STARS 0.4 – is available on the website. Two other documents have been recently posted:

  1. “Comments on STARS 0.4 version”
  2. “Responses to STARS 0.4 Survey” – survey questions were based on STARS 0.4 comments

Currently AASHE is holding “Focus Calls” on particular topics to resolve lingering questions. Go here for the complete schedule of calls. If you have expertise in a particular area and wish to join a focus call, please let me know - judy@aashe.org. Also let me know if you wish to serve as a Reviewer – we can always use more reviewers.

To receive periodic updates on STARS, you can join the AASHE-Rating announcement list.
