Bloomberg.com reported last Thursday that " Energy costs for U.S. colleges and universities soared 14 percent in the 12 months ending June 30, putting pressure on institutions with limited means of raising revenue". (Energy Costs Soar 14% in Year for U.S Universities).

In late December, the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 was signed into law. Congratulations to researchers at Pennsylvania State University who recently announced they have discovered a way to convert cellulose into hydrogen with a 288% return on energy input! This could be a huge development in the move to a hydrogen economy given that splitting natural gas was previously the only economical way to derive hydrogen.

AASHE is working on building a catalog of high quality, campus sustainability-related photos that it can provide to reporters and AASHE members for use in publications, websites and other promotional materials.
