How to Get Involved with STARS

STARS is a highly collaborative project. Volunteer representatives from colleges and universities, higher education associations, related nonprofit organizations, businesses, and government agencies are helping shape STARS. Participation from all stakeholders is welcome.

Announcement List

To stay informed about progress made in developing STARS, subscribe to the announcement list. The list is public and open to everyone.

Committees

The development of STARS is guided by a small Steering Committee and two advisory committees.

  • Steering Committee – This three-person committee, comprised of AASHE staff and board members, manages and directs the project.

  • Strategic Advisory Committee The SAC advises on the project’s vision, goals, and strategies for success.  In addition, SAC members review draft versions of STARS with a focus on big picture issues. SAC membership is comprised largely of representatives from higher education associations and is by invitation only.

  • Technical Advisory Committee – The TAC reviews and comments on draft versions of STARS, often with a focus on particular categories or issue areas.  Membership is comprised of individuals with expertise in key areas.

Provide Feedback

Feedback on STARS is welcome at all times. Please send feedback to stars@aashe.org at any time.

AASHE is conducting a series of formal comment periods to solicit feedback about recent draft versions of STARS. The next comment period will follow the release of STARS version 0.6 in fall 2008.

Conference Sessions

AASHE will continue to organize participatory and interactive sessions at campus sustainability conferences to solicit feedback about STARS. Sessions of this nature have been held at AASHE’s Conference in October 2006, Rocky Mountain Summit (Feb. 2007), Smart & Sustainable Campuses (Apr. 2007), and Greening of the Campus (Sept. 2007).
