STARS Pilot Project

The STARS pilot project is taking place from February to December 2008. Institutions participating in pilot are testing the system and providing feedback to AASHE to help shape future versions of STARS.

Pilot Participants

Over ninety colleges and universities are participating in the STARS pilot project. Schools were selected to represent diverse institution types, geographic regions, and sizes. See a list of institutions participating in the pilot project.

A Phased Approach

The STARS pilot project is taking place in two phases. A phased approach helps to moderate the workload for participating institutions. It also allows AASHE to solicit another round of feedback about some sections included in STARS before asking schools to gather data.

Phase One of the STARS pilot started in February 2008. Phase One covers the Operations section and about half of the Administration and Finance section. View Guide to STARS Pilot Phase One (pdf)

STARS Pilot Phase Two will be released in fall 2008 and will cover Education and Research and the outstanding credits in the Administration and Finance category.

Focused Conference Calls

AASHE is conducting a series of conference calls for institutions participating in the pilot project. Each call focuses on one or two categories covered by STARS. Participation in the calls is open only to schools enrolled in the STARS pilot project. View a schedule of calls and notes from the calls.

Pilot Forum

Institutions participating in the STARS pilot project are encouraged to ask questions, share strategies, and collaborate via the STARS Pilot Forum.

Pilot Reporting Tool

Institutions participating in the STARS pilot project can submit their data using the STARS Pilot Reporting Tool
